Our Farms
Supporting the transition from monoculture to poly-culture
We have built a network of 29 smallholder farming communities:
- A regeneration plan for their land, including soil and irrigation systems analysis.
- Land preparation and management, including organic manures and fertliser, and insect protection.
- Crop rotation management.
- Access to nurseries and high-quality seeds.
- Use of farming equipment and storage facilities.
- Training from our ethnobotanists and agronomists.
- Collaborative knowledge transfer with tribal farmers on cultivation methods and biodiversity protection.
In exchange, they commit to growing our crops following our Quality-by-Design framework for organic agroforestry. This ensures our reliable long-term access to quality raw materials, while making the farms more resilient and efficient, and providing these farming communities with market access for their crops.
A unique access to Indian farming communities
Our farm network spans eleven Indian states, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra, Rajasthan and West Bengal.
Our objective is to empower and provide income and climate security for our farming communities through the adoption of agroforestry:
- Cultivation plans for cash, feed and fodder crops.
- Securing income by adopting polyculture.
- Minimum income guarantee from NaturaYuva.
- Plant species diversity maximises soil fertility.
- Reduced water consumption.
- Reduced health risk due to not using chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
- Reduce costs due to no more synthetic products.
- High biodiversity minimises the phytosanitary risk.
- Increased resilience to weather events.
Through our network of farms we have access to a unique mix of climate, biodiversity and agricultural tradition and knowledge for aromatic and medicinal plants.
